The Disney Experience
By: Alexander G. Weiss, CFP®
I was fortunate enough to spend this past week at Walt Disney World in Florida. We went with Ashley’s family which included her parents and her brother’s family (him, his wife and three kids). This was a different type of vacation then I am used to as we did not sit on the beach and drink umbrella drinks, but I wouldn’t have changed it for anything!
The last time I was in Disney was about 20 years ago and while some things are the same (a shout out to the Space Mountain lovers), a lot of things have changed. Technology is one of the leading drivers of this. When you get in line for a ride, you now know how long your wait time is. But even better, you can get a FastPass to select rides to decrease wait times. It was amazing! I haven’t been on a rollercoaster in a few years, and this trip rekindled my love for thrill rides.
The main thing that hasn’t changed is the core of why we all love Disney - it is the experience. Everything is done with so much detail including something as simple as a meal with the characters. The ‘cast members’ (which is what they call all the employees) dress, speak, and act in accordance to the theme of the establishment. This only heightens the atmosphere and make the experience that more enjoyable. A personal favorite was the 50’s diner (which reminded me of my Nana’s kitchen growing up).
We created a lot of memories and instead of listing off a handful more, I figured I could share a few more pictures than normal.
If you have been to Disney, I would love to know other things I should do when we go back. If you haven’t been in a while, I can share all the details so you can experience as much joy as we all did.
Until next time…
