Generosity, Friendship and a Darn Good Time

US Wealth Napolitano |

A few weeks ago, we announced the Napolitano Team first annual charity golf outing.  It wasn’t intended to be a charity outing, but in our search to do more than entertain our great clients and friends, we decided to make the event bigger than us.  As you know, we named the Norwell VNA and Hospice as our charitable institution in memory of my Dear Friend Andy Scott, who passed this June. Andy was a stud physical therapist for the VNA, a patient of the VNA and my weekend warrior buddy.

We were nervous.  We’ve never asked you to dig into your pocket to support anything except your own personal financial wellbeing. Concerned about how many would be interested in contributing, we limited attendance to 36 golfers.  Within one week, the event was sold out.

I can’t tell you how humbled and appreciative we are at your outpourings of care and generosity.  We are thrilled, the Norwell VNA is thrilled, and Andy Scott is thrilled as evidenced by the spectacular weather that he ordered up for us that day.

When our team met this week, we tallied the checks and have raised about $5,000 for the Norwell VNA.  Even more special was the reaction from those who couldn’t play, but insisted on sending us a check payable to the Norwell VNA in the memory of Andy Scott. If you meant to send one, but haven’t yet done so, please send it to our attention at the office.

Like most golf outings, we had a few winners that we’d like to congratulate.  The winning team consisted of Brian McGinty, Val Feeney, Eric Lemont, and Alex Weiss.  The longest drive was won by Mike Byrnes of Kingston.  Mike blasted his drive on hole number one to walk away with the Pro V-1’s.  The closest to the pin, however, went down to the last swing and was won by one of the worst golfers there.  On my last swing, I bested Alex Weiss by 2 feet to win the closest to the pin on the 8th hole par 3.  As they say… even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.

We’ve already got a list of improvements to make next year’s event even more special. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement, but we are going to shoot for the first Friday of next fall.

Thanks again for all of your support and for making this one fun Friday.
