Half Way

Traditionally, February is not the time of year when you reflect on ‘half way’ points, which are usually reserved for mid-June or so. This year, I am breaking that trend as it has already been quite a year for the Weiss family. We have hit several exciting half way milestones already. Just this past week, our little Natalie has made it half way through her first trip around the sun and turned 6 months old. We also hit the half way point in our home renovations and have begun to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As amazing as it is to watch Natalie grow up and develop her own personality, we reached her 6 month birthday with mixed feelings. I am proud that we have made it this far and I also now completely understand why sleep deprivation is a form of torture. I am also a little sad because Natalie has already had a few firsts that cannot be recreated. While the giggles and smiles fuel us each day, we want to slow down time… just a little bit! We continue to watch her grow and try new things like eating solid foods, recognizing faces and so much more. Having Natalie is truly a joy and sharing the adventure with an amazing partner (shout out to my wonderful wife and Natalie’s mother, Ashley) makes the sleep deprivation worth it. Below are some pictures over the last 6 months.

The other half way mark is our home renovation! While no one can give us a firm move in date (and barring a few major snow storms like 2015), we are right on track for a late spring completion. As I write today, the roof is on and the house is weather-tight so they can start working on the interior without the worry of inclement weather. It is a big milestone and we are thankful for the mild winter thus far. We are now in the stage when you have a handful of tiny decisions to make each and every day– ‘where do you want this switch?’ ‘How about that plug?’ ‘What kind of tile here?’ and on and on. In my prior experience with home renovations, I hope that our choices do not further delay the progress.

If you have hit any milestones so far this year, please share them with the team! We would love to hear them.

Until next time…
